Paul Klee and primitivism – Mudec, Museum of Cultures
The great German artist: a painter, musician and theorist, known for his abstract and polychrome works, is with a collection that tells a phase of Klee’s formation: the origins of his art. The review, focused on the theme of “primitivism”, among oils, tempera, particularly original watercolors and drawings, reveals the influences respect all that can be termed wild. A must to see are his first experiments: the works characterized by geometric design and those unpublished by the caricatural trait.
Romanticism – Exhibitions at the Galleria d’Italia and at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli
The exhibition is about Italian Romanticism. A way to celebrate the contribution to the artistic movement, born in the first half of the nineteenth century, that has changed the way to see and feel in Europe. It will be possible to admire the art of the most iconic painters of that time, but also the stage costumes from La Scala. Paintings of artists like Francesco Hayez, Giovanni Carnevali called Il Piccio, and Massimo d’Azeglio, and then again the works of Giuseppe and Carlo Canella, Pitloo, Domenico Girolamo Induno with nature as the center of main engine of reality. Among the sculptures stand out the works of Lorenzo Bartolini and Pietro Tenerani and those of the great artists active in Italy, such as Caspar David Friedrich, William Turner and many others.
Icons 5.7 – Master Photographers at the Whitelight Art Gallery
The exhibition contains an interesting selection of the best works by four great masters of national and international photography. In thw show there are the icon shots of Steve McCurry author of the “Afghani Girl”, Gian Paolo Barbieri, one of the most important names in fashion photography (he portrayed Audrey Hepburn, Veruska, Monica Bellucci), Eolo Perfido, interpreter of street photography and the Brazilian Christian Cravo, international signature of nature photography. Through their looks you are transported within a fascinating timeless journey.
The art of Banksy. A visual protest – MUDEC
If you want to detach from the vortex of colors, clothes and accessories on the catwalks among the many exhibitions to see in Milan and from which to take creative inspiration, there is also the exhibition dedicated to Bansky, the brilliant english street artist who revolutionized the concept of modern art. The monographic retrospective, obviously not authorized by the faceless artist (always opposed to the commodification of art), collects about 80 works including paintings, numbered prints in limited editions, objects, photographs and videos, covers of records he designed and much more that illustrates the incredible talent of the mysterious writer.
